Blog 6: Favorite TV show/ Film / Anime

Hello everyone, in this blog I will talk about of my favourite TV show. It was a difficult decision, but my choice is Atypical.

Atypical is a Netflix series launched in 2017. Atypical is about an American family and the issues experienced by each member. The series portrays a series of topics, such as infidelity and marital breakdown, personal identity, sexual orientation and personal growth.

However, the principal topic of Atypical is related to Sam’s life. He is a young man diagnosed with autism, he is extremely intelligent and has been able to face his environment in a positive way. However, many times we can see how the environment that is normal for us, for someone like Sam it can be very disturbing and complicated, which makes him frustrated and lose control.

 

Sam’s Family 

In addition to the complexities associated with his condition, he must face other problems, such as the separation of his parents, the strange relationship with her sister, love relationships and, especially, facing challenges like going to university and having a job. In each of these situations a fundamental support for Sam is his best friend Zahid and thinking about penguins. He knows everything about penguins and they are his favorite animals.

I really like this series because it shows us everyday things from a different perspective, mixing elements of drama and comedy, which makes Atypical a fun series that even though it portraits difficult and sad situations, it never loses its happy and hopeful essence.
